When we brought back the Bay Point Billfish Open in 2023, we set out to restore a legacy that meant so much to the sportfishing community. Formerly known as the Bay Point Billfish Invitational, the tournament ran from 1984 to 2012 and was one of the most elite events in offshore fishing—you actually had to have an invitation to compete.

Over the past two years, we’ve revived that legacy, bringing BPBO back to its rightful place as one of the premier billfish tournaments in the Gulf.
Riding the Wave of Success
The past two years have proven that the spirit of the Bay Point Billfish Open is stronger than ever. In 2023, we welcomed 56 boats, followed by 80 boats in 2024, and for 2025, we’re projecting at least 100 boats—a testament to the tournament’s incredible growth.

One of the most electrifying moments of BPBO is watching teams back their boats down right up to the scale, greeted by a massive crowd of spectators eagerly waiting to see the latest catch hit the board. The energy surrounding BPBO has been electric, and it’s clear that the Gulf Coast fishing community is all-in on making this one of the premier billfish tournaments in the country.
