Snapper Grouper Public Meetings July 13-16

Attend the local meetings in Florida fishing communities to talk with Council members and staff on draft goals and strategies to guide long-term management of the snapper grouper fishery Stakeholders in the snapper grouper fishery are invited to attend upcoming meetings in four Florida fishing communities to hear a presentation and have informal discussions about each of the four strategic focus areas in the Draft Vision Blueprint – Science, Management, Communication, and Governance. Council members and staff will be on hand to talk with the public about specific items in the Draft Vision Blueprint and what the public supports and does not support. Meetings will be held in the following locations in Florida and will start at 6pm. The public can attend the meeting in-person or participate via webinar. Webinar registration is required as is available under the Visioning Project page on the Council’s website. The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council is developing a long-term “vision” for managing the snapper grouper fishery. After collecting public input in 2014 at regional port meetings, input from the port meetings and ideas from Council members were compiled into the Draft Vision Blueprint. The Draft Vision Blueprint consists of proposed objectives and actions under the four broad goals of: ADDITIONAL COMMENT STATION MEETINGS All meetings begin at 6 pm and the public can participate in-person or via webinar.
