Job Description
Mate Needed – Private Sportfish
Private sportfishing program seeking an experienced and professional mate to join a well-maintained, family-oriented operation. Vessel details and additional information regarding the program will be disclosed during further discussions with qualified candidates.
Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of 3+ years of sportfishing experience, including strong experience with:
- Dead-bait trolling for billfish
- Offshore tackle preparation and rigging
- General sportfishing boat operations
- Billfish and tournament experience are strongly preferred.
- Optional kite fishing experience
Locations & Travel
The program operates seasonally throughout:
New Jersey
Charleston
South Florida
The Bahamas
The Caribbean
Candidates should be comfortable with regular travel and extended periods away from their home base as the vessel moves throughout the season.
Owners & Guest Interaction
This is an extremely family-oriented program, and the right candidate will become a trusted and valued part of that environment.
A strong emphasis is placed on proper manners, professionalism, discretion, and demeanor around owners, family members, and guests. The ideal candidate should be personable, respectful, socially aware, and can conduct themselves appropriately in a variety of settings.
Maturity, good judgment, and the ability to represent the vessel and program professionally at all times are essential.
Vessel Standards
The vessel is maintained to a very high standard, and there is an expectation that it remains in exceptional condition at all times.
The mate should take genuine pride in the presentation and upkeep of the boat, including tackle, fishing equipment, exterior condition, storage areas, and overall organization.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, notices what needs attention before being asked, and approaches the vessel with a true pride-of-ownership mentality.
