The second-generation model is poised to advance Viking’s legacy of innovation and performance.
NEW GRETNA, N.J. – March 25, 2026 – Viking Yachts has introduced the second-generation Viking 70 Convertible, a four-stateroom, five-head bluewater battlewagon representing the next evolution in its lineup of tournament-proven sportfishing yachts.
The 70 reflects decades of collaboration between Viking’s Design and Engineering, R&D and Production teams, along with leadership deeply involved in the sport.
Built on Experience and Evolution
“We have the best team in the business,” said Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “Every time we challenge them to create a new model, they deliver.”
Building on models like the 55, 61 and 65, Viking has delivered more than 220 yachts in the 68- to 72-foot range. The new 70 also benefits from the proven design of the 90, 82 and 74.
“Each hull played a part in shaping this boat,” said Viking Design Manager David Wilson.

Design and Hull Performance
The new hull continues Viking’s length-to-beam progression and is three inches narrower than the Gen II 68, improving ride quality and efficiency through refinements in deadrise, chines and strakes.
“Our goal was to optimize performance while maintaining comfort,” Wilson said.
The cockpit has been lengthened to provide more working space while maintaining proper balance, trim and visibility.
The flybridge features a center console helm with flush-mounted electronics, three helm chairs, forward lounge seating and integrated storage, along with excellent aft visibility.
Inside, the salon includes an L-shaped settee, raised dinette and a galley that can be configured as either a peninsula or island layout. The interior is built in Viking’s in-house facility, known as the Mill, with horizontal-grain walnut throughout.
Interior and Accommodations
Below deck, the layout includes a master stateroom, forward VIP, guest accommodations and a crew stateroom with private engineroom access.
The Viking 70 is offered with two propulsion packages: MAN V12X 2200 (2200 MHP) or MTU 12V2000 M96Z (2222 MHP), with performance targets approaching 43 knots based on recent Viking testing.
The engineroom includes systems such as a Spot Zero watermaker, ElectroSea raw-water treatment and Viking’s ventilation and fire suppression systems, all designed for accessibility and maintenance.
The vessel is also engineered for a Palm Beach Towers tuna tower, outriggers and omni sonar integration.
The Viking 70 Gen II Convertible will make its world premiere at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and will be available in open bridge, enclosed bridge and sky bridge configurations.
