The Luxurious 96′ Jim Smith Sportfishing Boat: A True Masterpiece

InTheBite had the privilege of touring the 96′ Jim Smith Tournament Boat, aptly named the A Work of Art prior to its official delivery. Initiated in 2022, this vessel represents one of the final Sportfishing builds in its size class, primarily due to the EPA IMO Emission standards impacting ships over 92 feet.

Unparalleled Luxury and Space

Describing the A Work of Art as merely “spacious” or “luxurious” would be an understatement. Designed for participating in multiple-night excursions, particularly during the summer Gulf tournament circuit, this vessel—or more aptly, yacht—exceeds every expectation. It ensures that both guests and crew enjoy every possible amenity. The aft crew’s quarters provide direct access to both the engine room and the aft cockpit, with a stairwell leading up into the main salon.

State-of-the-Art Command Center

The second-level enclosed bridge offers the captain a comprehensive suite of modern navigation technologies and electronic controls, most all manageable via a mouse ball nestled into the armrest of the captains chair This feature, combined with the air-conditioned comfort of the bridge, allows for a seamless and comfortable journey to the fishing grounds, regardless of weather conditions. This is particularly advantageous given the vast geographic dispersion of Gulf fishing locations, which often require journeys well over 100 miles.

Superior Vantage Points for Fishing

The true fishing command takes place on the third level. Here, the A Work of Art’s considerable size offers the captain an exceptional vantage point for spotting pelagic activity within the spread. The sky bridge, equipped with an array of electronics mirroring those of the enclosed bridge, provides a significant visibility advantage, with a sky bridge rivaling that of most 70’ sportfish bridge over 40′ in the air.

A 96′ Jim Smith Celebratory Note

Congratulations to John Vance and his team at Jim Smith Tournament Boats, as well as to the proud new owners and crew of the 96’ Yacht/Fish. The A Work of Art lives up to its name in every respect.
